Living For Something

Where do you draw the line? At what point do you say "no" and stand for something? If we don't live for something, we'll tend to go along with anything, even if it is wrong or untrue.
While Daniel did live for something, the way he went about it is also highly instructive for us. We often pursue simplistic solutions when faced with complex moral problems. Rather than either fully separate or assimilate to the culture of Babylon, Daniel shows us what it means to be a faithful presence instead. There is no flow chart of faithfulness, but we can discern principles for engaging culture wisely. In this text, we'll see how Daniel is agreeably disagreeable, obeys and calibrates his conscience, and leans into a faith community.
