The Fiery Furnace

We are generally fascinated by and appalled at the atrocities of Nazi Germany. How could an advanced, educated society fall prey to such propaganda and go along with such horrific acts? Put simply, if there is no God above the state, the state becomes God. When individuals no longer hold deeply to right convictions and forsake their conscience people will stand for nothing.

The account of the fiery furnace may be the the focus of many children's bibles, but it is hardly a light story. Rather, it is a tense and dramatic ethical narrative about life and death and doing what's right no matter what. This teaching will explore what Christian resistance is and also the distinct way in which it is to be done.
