Welcome to Babylon U

The book of Daniel is a microstory within a macrostory. Daniel and his friends are tragically ripped from their homeland in 605 BC and taken into exile in the Babylon, the global superpower of the day. This story is powerful and instructive its own right, but even more illuminating when placed within the larger biblical framework of what Babylon represents.
Babylon is not simply a place, but a power. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells the story of man exalting himself against God and God humbly descending to save man. In this introduction to Daniel, we see how the spirit of Babylon is always pressing to influence and educate us, and ultimately aims to name us. Will we be named by Babylon or by God?
