Who's In Charge Of The World?

Daniel 7 is a transitional chapter in the book, linking the front to the back and switching from narrative stories to apocalyptic literature. It is also the centerpiece and pinnacle of the book, providing its most important statement and some of the most foundational theology of scripture.

Who's in charge of the world? Is it the country that currently has the most power? Is it the most tyrannical ruler? Is no one ultimately in charge? Given the evil and atrocities of history, it is tempting to believe good will not win and progress may be an illusion. Daniel gives us a different perspective - God is in charge in a mysterious way right in the middle of the evil empires of man. Further, he has delegated authority to the Son of Man, who will establish an everlasting kingdom of righteousness.
