The Destruction of Pride

While pride is typically viewed as an undesirable trait and off-putting in others, we almost never see it in ourselves. The reason is that pride is inherently deceptive, but also carries in itself inherent destruction.

As the ancient saying goes, "Pride goes before a fall." As we begin the book of Obadiah, we'll see the devastating impact of pride in through the example of the nation of Edom. God opposes the proud, not because he is insecure, but because only the humble can receive his favor and be set free from the trap of pride.
