What Is The Church?

What is the church? It's one of those subjects that we take for granted and assume but may not be able to define exactly. Though we understandably consider the building or the religious organization as "the church", the church of Jesus is not a place, but a people.

Why does the church matter and who really needs it? Though the church certainly has its faults, Jesus founded it to bring redemption, healing, and reconciliation to the world. As Charles Spurgeon said, "the church is not an institution for perfect people; but a sanctuary for sinners saved by grace."
