Mystery and Victory

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central act not only of salvation history, but of human history. As outlandish as it may sound, the story of God become man to bear the sins of the world and rise victoriously to new and indestructible bodily life has shaped civilization for the last 2000 years.

As we look at 1 Corinthians 15 this Easter, we look beyond what happened on that Resurrection Sunday to what it means. If Jesus truly rose from the dead, how is the world different as a result? Apart from the reality of the Resurrection, so many of the values we hold dear don't make sense. But if it did happen, not only is the present shaped by it, but the future is secured through it.
