Vision of a Church

Religious affiliation may be declining, but the desire for community, purpose, transformation, and transcendence remains. Our culture continues to search for spiritual belonging in fitness communities, political movements, and friend groups, yet none can fully heal the soul or provide the fellowship for which we were made. Acts 2 presents the church of Jesus Christ as God’s answer to these deepest human longings.

In Acts 2:42–47, the early church is marked by devotion to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. It is also characterized by awe in the presence of God, radical generosity toward those in need, and a steadfast commitment that extends far beyond a weekly gathering.

This vision is both beautiful and demanding. Christian community flourishes when we stop asking only how our needs will be met and begin asking what we can give. Ultimately, such fellowship is possible only through Jesus Christ, who creates his church, joins believers to himself, and binds them to one another.
